NEW ROCHELLE (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Bronx woman was arrested Tuesday after she set fire to a bar in New Rochelle following an argument with staff, police said.
Freissy Batista-Pereya, 32, was hit with charges of arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief in the fiery altercation at the Drake Main Café on Drake Avenue.
New Rochelle police officers responded to the scorched bar around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
The owner told them that a woman got into a dispute with staff earlier in the evening, it's unclear what about.
She left but returned a short time later armed with a gas can, the owner told cops.
She allegedly poured gasoline on the exterior of the building and at the entryway, then set the gas on fire.
The bar owner quickly extinguished the fire before major damage was done.
The officers nabbed the suspect as she tried to flee in an Uber vehicle, police said.
No one was injured in the fire.
