
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Organizers of New York City's SantaCon announced Friday that they cancelled their event amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"There is no SantaCon NYC this year," the official website read. "All the reindeer got the 'Rona so, the Elves have advised Santa to hold off one the in-person merriment."
Every year, hundreds of people dressed up as Santa Claus travel into the city to bar hop and raise money for various charities.
In recent years, the event has gotten negative attention ad complaint over the chaos and brawl caused.
The organization, however, is still raising money to help feed New York frontline workers in 2020.
