NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An NYPD officer was injured when a vehicle fled a traffic stop in Midtown on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
A dramatic video posted to social media by a CBS New York reporter showed a black Cadillac fleeing a police stop by accelerating through a dining shed and onto a sidewalk, hitting a person attempting to dive out of the way.
The driver also struck a storefront before driving the car back onto the road, then onto the adjacent sidewalk — hitting a signpost before speeding off.
Police said the incident took place at Madison Avenue and East 30th Street in Midtown around 4:50 p.m., and confirmed that the officer was hit when the driver fled.

The Cadillac driver then crashed into another vehicle at East 30th Street and Lexington Avenue in Kips Bay.
The officer suffered a concussion and was brought to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
Police attempted to make the initial stop after the black Cadillac ran a red light.
The NYPD was still searching for the driver Thursday.
