NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials are investigating after a baby boy was found dead inside an apartment in Brooklyn on Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD.
Police responded to a 911 call of an aided infant inside of the Van Dyke House located at 429 Dumont Avenue in Brownsville at approximately 9 a.m. on Nov. 17.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 4-month-old Cairo Stenson, unconscious and unresponsive, was transported by private means to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The infant was under the care of his foster mother at the time of his death but had suffered from internal injuries that appear to date back to before she had taken him into custody approximately a month ago, officials said.
He was also possible malnourished, authorities said.
Police are investigating what role internal injuries and possible malnourishment may played for the infant who .
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
