NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD issued an alert to officers in the wake of the mass shootings in Colorado and Georgia.
In the Wednesday bulletin, the counterterrorism unit advised officers about "high-value targets" where people congregate, WABC reported.
"This mass shooting is a reminder that crowded openly accessible locations such as grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes remain high-value targets for a wide range of violent extremists and ideologically untethered malicious actors," the alert read.
It also noted that warming weather and loosened pandemic restrictions may provide new opportunities for violence.
Eight people were killed in Atlanta-area spa shootings on March 16. Ten people were killed in a shooting at a King Soopers supermarket in Boulder on Monday.
