Terrence Gittens, 36, was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property at 3:30 p.m., police said.

Gittens was arrested in the 5th Precinct, which covers Chinatown, but also contains Little Italy and the Bowery. It's unclear if that's where the alleged theft took place.

Records show that Gittens is part of the 7th Precinct and has had no complaints brought before the Civilian Complaint Review Board.

An investigation is ongoing.
