On-duty NYPD officer assaulted during protest in Union Square; suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released a photo on Friday of a man accused of assaulting an NYPD officer during as pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protesters clashed inside of Union Square Park.

It happened at about 8:15 p.m. on Thursday when the on-duty 39-year-old officer was approached by the suspect, who pushed a barrier into his face, authorities said.

The suspect fled the location to parts unknown.

EMS transported the victim to an area hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing.
