NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens NYPD officer was arrested Saturday for allegedly keeping 15 unsecured guns in his Queens home within reach of his 15-month-old daughter.

According to a criminal complaint, Jason McLeod, 37, kept his firearms including shot guns, rifles and handguns, scattered around the home.

The mother of his daughter, who lives with McLeod, called police to their residence late Saturday night and showed responding officers where he kept his firearms, prosecutors allege.

Authorities discovered a loaded gun on a living room coffee table and in a kitchen cabinet. Other guns were found under his bed, in his closets and in his bedside table drawer. None were safely stored in a locked box, officials said.

Only one gun found in the house had been reported by McLeod on a card listing the authorized off-duty weapons, prosecutors said. The remaining guns were unregistered.

McLeod was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and failure to safely store rifles, shotguns and firearms.

He was suspended without pay, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
