NYPD officer, 34, fatally shoots himself in his Manhattan apartment: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 34-year-old NYPD officer fatally shot himself Wednesday inside his Stuyvesant Town apartment, where he was found lying face down on his bed with a gun next to him, The New York Post reported, citing sources.

The officer was found by police around 7:15 p.m. after he didn't show up for his 6 p.m. shift.

He was stationed out of Times Square, according to the Post.

The officer joined the force in 2003.

Earlier this month NYPD deputy inspector Denis Mullaney fatally shot himself, as well.
