NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police are searching for two suspects after NYPD officers were attacked while confronting a "disorderly group" outside a migrant shelter in Long Island City on Monday morning.

The NYPD released images Tuesday of the duo, who are being sought for assault on a police officer.

The two officers encountered the group around 4:20 a.m. Monday outside a hotel at 12th Street and 40th Avenue that has served as a shelter for families since 2023.

The group assaulted and "threw various objects" at the officers, striking them and causing injuries to their heads and backs, police said.

The events leading up to the group attack weren't immediately known.

The officers were transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
