VIDEO: Police search for driver who ran over, injured woman in NYC hit-run

Warning: The video above is graphic.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police released disturbing new video Sunday as they search for the driver behind the wheel of a car that ran over and injured a woman in the Bronx earlier this month.

Video shows the driver of the Dodge Caliber hitting the 48-year-old victim as she crossed the street at Burnside Avenue and Jerome Avenue in University Heights around 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 7, police said.

The woman, who had a "walk" sign, was knocked to the pavement and ran over by the vehicle. Police said the driver fled the scene.

The woman suffered severe trauma to her leg and was transported by EMS in stable condition to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Police said they're searching for a dark-colored Dodge Caliber sedan with tinted windows, black rims and a dent on the front-passenger side fender. They said there are small stickers located on the right and left top of the rear windshield and on the passenger side window vent. At the time of the crash, the vehicle had one rear license plate affixed to it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
