NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New York University security guard reportedly stabbed his boss following arguments relating to coronavirus guidelines on campus.

Safety officer Frantz Arestyl, 38, stabbed his supervisor six times with a large knife “resembling a machete” after Arestyl refused to take part in a COVID-19 screening on multiple occasions, according to the NYU student newspaper Washington Square News.

Arestyl has reportedly been charged with attempted murder for the attack, which took place on July 24 in a Broome Street dormitory. The supervisor suffered several broken ribs and a collapsed lung, the New York Post reported.

“The defendant chased and repeatedly stabbed his supervisor with a large knife resembling a machete after refusing to complete the COVID screening process required by his employer, NYU,” Assistant District Attorney Candace White said at Arestyl’s arraignment, according to the outlet.

“The attack occurred after the defendant refused to complete the screening process on prior occasions, having been sent home earlier in the week,” White added.

Arestyl also faces charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon and was released on a $300,000 bond, according to WSN
