KEARNY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Officials launched an investigation after a 38-year-old inmate at a New Jersey jail was found dead inside her cell Tuesday morning, authorities said.
A corrections officer reported that the woman's body was discovered in her cell just after 7 a.m. and onsite medical personnel immediately rendered aid, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
The inmate who was being housed at the Hudson County facility, was pronounced dead at 7:34 a.m., according to Suarez.
There were no visible signs of trauma and an investigation is being handled by her office, Suarez added.
The inmate's name was not released by the prosecutor’s office's and the cause of death will be determined by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
