NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A 74-year-old man was scammed out of thousands of dollars on the Upper West Side when falsely informed that his son was under arrest on Friday, Sept. 15, police said.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., an unknown man approached the victim near West 62nd St. and Riverside Boulevard. The scammer informed the victim that his son was under arrest and demanded $9,500 for bail.
The scammer fled the scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction.
The man was not injured.
