NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Only one out-of-state traveler to New York City has reportedly been busted for bucking the state's COVID quarantine order.

A 51-year-old Florida man was issued two summonses for violating the order, according to the New York Post, which cited an arrest report.

NYC Sheriff deputies reportedly paid two visits to his room at the Club Wyndham in Midtown on Sept. 18, but he wasn't there, according to officials. He was handed the summonses the following day.

The Sheriff's Office told the Post that the man faces $1,500 in fines.

New York state's quarantine rule, enacted in June, requires people coming in from states with high COVID-19 rates to fill out contact-tracing forms and quarantine for 14 days under the threat of hefty fines. The list is currently at 38 states and territories.
