NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An out-of-control driver pinned an on-duty police officer in Greenwich Village Friday morning, authorities confirmed.

It happened just before 8 a.m., when a 26-year-old officer was walking to his cruiser, parked on Seventh Avenue at West 13th Street, officials said.

According to police, a Dodge Charger with Pennsylvania license plates was traveling southbound on Seventh Avenue and struck a street sweeper causing it to spiral out of control then strike the officer.

The driver of the Charger was transported in stable condition to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for evaluation. Charges against him were pending, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
