NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Workers installed the 2023 New Year's Eve ball in Times Square on Tuesday ahead of this weekend's ball drop.
Photos from atop One Times Square on a chilly morning show workers installing Waterford crystal triangles featuring this year's "Gift of Love" design.
The design is "represented by a circle of overlapping hearts entwined together," according to the Times Square Alliance.

A total of 192 new crystal triangles were added to the ball, replacing about a 10th of the ball's 2,688 triangles.
The 12-foot, 11,875-pound ball will drop at midnight on Saturday night to ring in the new year.

A confetti test for the ball drop will be held on Thursday, while the test of the ball itself is scheduled for Friday.
The performers at this year's celebration include Chelsea Cutler, JVKE, Jax, Ava Max, J-Hope, Osmani Garcia, New Edition, Sech and Duran Duran.
