Police ID victim in fatal Christmas Eve shooting in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place in Brooklyn on Christmas Eve.

The shooting occurred just after 9:45 a.m. near the intersection of Powell Street and Belmont Avenue in Brownsville. Responding officers discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was later identified as 46-year-old Marcin Iwanowicz.

EMS rushed Iwanowicz to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where he died.

No arrests have been made and the gunman was last seen wearing a yellow and black hoodie.
