NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A murder suspect who was mistakenly released from Rikers Island last month has been rearrested, according to a report.
Police took Christopher Buggs, 26, back into custody on Friday, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.
Buggs had been awaiting trial in the fatal shooting of 55-year-old Ernest Brownlee outside a Bedford-Stuyvesant bodega in February 2018 when Rikers Island employees released him due to a clerical error.
Buggs was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in that case.
Sources told the Daily News that the 26-year-old was being held without bail when a judge sentenced him to time served in a separate misdemeanor criminal contempt case, resulting in his release.
Buggs was considered armed and dangerous, according to the report.
