NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 25-year-old man escaped from police custody as officers were transporting him from NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem to a nearby police service area on Thursday morning, the NYPD said.
Officers were taking the man, whose hands were cuffed behind his back, from the hospital to Police Service Area 6 on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, near West 147th Street, around 9:50 a.m. on Thursday when he managed to escape, the department said.
The man ran west on West 135th Street, the NYPD said.
Police said he was in custody in connection with a domestic violence incident, and is not believed to present a risk to the public.
