NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One of the Black Lives Matter protesters who allegedly assaulted and attempted to rob a man walking a dog near Central Park late last month has been arrested, police said.

Marrero Desmond, of the Bronx, turned himself in at the 20th Precinct on Thursday, police told the New York Post. The 25-year-old was charged with assault and attempted robbery.

The 40-year-old victim was walking with his dog near Central Park West and W. 67th Street on the Upper West Side on the afternoon of Oct. 24 when he encountered the protesters, police said.

Police told the Post that a group of Black Lives Matter protesters were chanting, "Whose streets? Our streets!" The man reportedly responded, saying he thought the streets were "everybody's streets" before the protesters surrounded him.

One of the protesters punched the man in the head and pushed him to the ground, police said.

While the man was on the ground, two other protesters punched and stomped on him, according to police, who said another person in the group then tried to steal the man's cellphone from his hands.

The man and his dog both suffered minor injuries. The man refused medical attention at the scene.
