SECAUCUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 24-year-old Queens man was arrested on Sunday for threatening volunteers at an animal shelter with a gun over a dispute relating to an injured dog, according to the Secaucus Police Department.
Cordell Phillip from College Point allegedly threatened to punch one volunteer at the Secaucus Animal Shelter and stated he had a gun to another during an argument over the procedure for turning over an injured dog to them.
When officers arrested Phillip on the Meadowlands Parkway, they found a handgun and a BB rifle in his car.
"I am thankful that nobody was injured in this incident and I remain hopeful that our criminal justice system prevails and the defendant will be held accountable for threatening innocent volunteers," said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller.
Police charged him with making terroristic threats and weapons charges.
He's being held in Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
