Queens driver arrested for raping 14-year-old boy he lured into car: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD’s special victim’s squad on Thursday announced they arrested a 63-year-old man for raping a boy he lured into his car in Queens last week.

Virgilio Taveras was charged with rape, luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse.

According to a criminal complaint, at around 1 p.m. on July 1, Taveras allegedly lured the teen into his car and sexually assaulted him near the intersection of 175th Street and Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica.

Police also released media depicting Taveras’ vehicle, which he allegedly used to approach the victim.

The NYPD also released a photo of Taveras’ vehicle, which he allegedly used to approach the victim.

The NYPD is asking any other potential victims to come forward by calling the NYPD's Sex Crimes Hotline at 1-212-267-RAPE (7273) or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
