NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An FDNY firefighter was arrested for bringing an assault rifle, ammunition and "ghost gun" parts into New York from Philadelphia, the New York Post reported.
Aaron B. Martin, who was a 49-year-old volunteer with FDNY Rescue 4 in Queens, was arrested and charged for felony possession of an assault weapon on Feb. 13.
Martin was caught as a result of a multi-agency sting operation targeting arms traffickers.
A surveillance team followed Martin to a gun show in Philadelphia. There, Martin paid cash for two gun components used to make guns without serial numbers that can't be traced, also known as "ghost guns."
Martin also bought high capacity magazines and a Siphai semi-automatic 12-gauge assault shotgun with an American flag pattern at the gun show, according to court records.
Once Martin crossed from Pennsylvania into New York via Interstate 95, the team surveilling him pulled him over and arrested him.
The FDNY told the Post Martin was suspended without pay for 28 days following his arrest.
