NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A raging fire tore through multiple businesses and injured seven firefighters in Queens before it was brought under control Saturday.

The fire broke out on 37th Avenue, just east of Main Street, in Flushing shortly before midnight and eventually went to seven alarms, fire officials said.

More than 200 members of the FDNY fought the fire for hours in the middle of the night before it was brought under control just before 9 a.m. Saturday.

Citizen App video shows flames and smoke pouring out of the businesses as firefighters arrive at the scene. Temperatures were in the mid-20s and water used to douse the flames quickly iced up.

Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

The blaze gutted a pharmacy, a hair salon and a restaurant.

FDNY Chief of Operations Tom Richardson said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

"We don't know what caused the fire, but inside a hair salon, as you do know, there are always chemical type things, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the start of the fire," Richardson said.

The street remained closed to traffic Saturday morning as the area was cleaned up.
