NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 71-year-old man was beaten to death by his neighbor in a reported argument over noise at an apartment building in Queens early Friday, police said.
Officers responding to a 911 call on 138th Street, near 90th Avenue in Jamaica, found the 71-year-old unresponsive with severe trauma to his body around 1:30 a.m.
Police said EMS pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old man was taken into custody with charges pending, police said.
Police told PIX11 that the 37-year-old went downstairs to the 71-year-old's apartment to complain about noise.
During the argument, the 37-year-old allegedly beat the victim with a metal bar, according to the report.
Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
