A 15-year veteran UPS driver was dropping off packages around 3:30 p.m. and was attempting to parallel park the truck which was blocking traffic, officials said.

Jahsheen Osbourne, 21, was sitting in the passenger seat of a stolen Mercedes, upset by the UPS driver blocking traffic, court documents show.

Osbourne started yelling at the delivery worker which caused a verbal dispute. The Mercedes eventually maneuvered past the truck while Osbourne shot at the driver.

The victim was hit in the stomach and bled to the point where he lost consciousness. He was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery to repair extensive internal damage.

“The driver who was merely doing his job was severely injured because of the defendant’s impatience and access to an illegal gun,” District Attorney Melinda Katz said. “Thankfully he did not lose his life. This defendant has now been held accountable and sentenced by the Court for his senseless actions.”

Osbourne was later arrested and also indicted on grand larceny charges for stealing the Mercedes just hours before the shooting.

Along with the 17-year prison sentence, Osbourne was also given five years of post-release supervision.
