NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman was stabbed to death in a basement spa in Flushing on Tuesday evening, police said as they charged a man—who’s believed to be her partner—with murder.
Jui Mei Tang, 26, was pronounced dead at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she'd been rushed with multiple stab wounds to her body and neck, according to the NYPD.
Tang was stabbed around 5:40 p.m. in the basement of a massage spa in the area of Kissena Boulevard and Barclay Avenue, police said.
Citizen App video shows large crowds gathered outside the spa as NYPD officers investigated in an area cordoned off by crime scene tape.
Officers responded to a 911 call from the location and ultimately took Jiahai Ma, 25, into custody.
Ma was charged with murder, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.
Police didn’t immediately confirm the relationship between Tang and Ma, but sources told 1010 WINS that the suspect is the victim’s husband or boyfriend.
The pair live at the same address on Cherry Avenue in Flushing, according to police.
Their connection to the spa, if any, wasn’t immediately clear.
