NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A ransomware attack on a Bronx private school exposed personal information about students, faculty and parents, a source close to the school told 1010 WINS.

The database breach occurred in late February at Riverdale Country School in Fieldston, which has declined to comment due to the sensitive nature of the information that may have been exposed.

The group behind the attack, Ransom Hub, has reportedly published the data for all to see on its site. According to News 12, this includes biographical, contact and medical information.

Riverdale Country School will not be paying the ransomware demand and school officials are continuing to work with law enforcement, the source said.

Families have been notified about the breach.

Authorities said that Ransom Hub has become one of the most prolific ransomware groups as cybercrimes escalate, extorting at least 210 victims last year.

PowerSchool, a platform used widely in New York, was attacked with ransomware in late December.
