NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., was arrested earlier this week following an incident in Brooklyn, police confirmed with 1010 WINS on Thursday.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Jan. 10 reporting a dispute at the intersection of Jay Street and Front Street in Dumbo, where a 50-year-old man was injured.

Upon arrival, they found the victim, who had been punched multiple times in the face. The man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, where he was treated in stable condition, police said.

Following a complaint, Busta Rhymes, 52, turned himself in to the police on Tuesday, according to sources, and was charged with one count of assault in the third degree. He was issued a desk appearance ticket, according to sources, and released pending a court appearance.

In 2015, the Brooklyn-born artist was charged with assault after allegedly throwing a protein drink at an employee at a Manhattan gym.

Busta Rhymes has not publicly addressed the recent charges.

1010 WINS has reached out to reps for Busta Rhymes for comment.
