
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A retired New York State trooper died from a 9/11 related illness on Wednesday after working in and around the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack, Steven G. James, New York State Police acting superintendent announced.
Trooper Steven A. Tyrrell, 58, from Rochester, New York, Monroe County, was assigned to New York City to help in search and recovery efforts following 9/11.
Tyrrell, 58, has served with the state police since October 1997. He last served at New York State Police Troop T Henrietta and spent most of his career there.
Tyrrell had three kids; Sean, Kathryn, and Rachel.
