NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New York City Department of Correction officer was arraigned on Tuesday for groping a colleague while working at Rikers Island, according to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.

On Dec. 5, 2020, Carlos Ozorio, 38, allegedly grabbed his co-worker’s breast and vagina from behind while kissing her neck. When she pushed him away, he slapped her buttocks, according to officials.

The assault allegedly took place in a Rikers Island Headquarters trailer.

“We will hold accountable anyone who commits a crime in the jails, and workplace sexual abuse will not be tolerated,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clarke. “The victimized officer was performing her job and was allegedly abused by a colleague, someone she should be able to trust in a place where Correction staff are victims of violence by inmates.”

Ozorio has worked for the DOC for 11 years.

He was charged with forcible touching, sexual abuse and harassment at his arraignment on Tuesday.

His next court date is scheduled for June 7.
