NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A school aide was slashed with what may have been a scalpel during a dispute with a student at William Taft High School in the Bronx on Monday morning, according to sources.
The slashing happened just before 10:30 a.m. when a 53-year-old male aide got into a verbal dispute with a student, sources said. During the confrontation, the student allegedly slashed the aide's arm.
A second aide, 30, attempted to break up the altercation and was also slashed, in the hand, sources said.
EMS responded to the scene and transported both aides to a local hospital.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
"The behavior that occurred today is both unacceptable and deeply concerning. School staff and school safety agents responded immediately and followed established safety protocols, while NYPD and EMS were swiftly on site to further ensure the safety of our students and staff."
"Acts of violence have no place in our school community, and this incident will be addressed with the utmost seriousness in accordance with school policies and the law. We will be providing additional support to the school in the coming days."
