NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A school bus driver struck a 9-year-old girl and her 79-year-old grandfather in Brooklyn on Friday morning, pinning one of them under the vehicle, officials said.

The driver has been temporarily put on leave pending an investigation of the incident.

According to police, the pair were crossing the street in Crown Heights at 7:25 a.m., when the driver turned the bus from Buffalo Avenue onto Eastern Parkway and struck them.

The FDNY said one of the victims was pinned under the school bus, though it was unclear which person.

Both of them were transported to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.

Several public schools are within a short walk of the crash scene.

The bus driver, a 56-year-old man, remained at the scene and has not been charged as the investigation continues, police said.
