NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is investigating after the gruesome discovery Tuesday evening of a severed foot along the Staten Island shoreline, police said.
A person walking near the fishing pier in Ocean Breeze found what turned out to be a human foot, severed at the ankle.
Police received a call reporting the discovery, near Father Capodanno Boulevard and Seaview Avenue, just after 7:40 p.m., authorities said.
The remains were badly decomposed and remain unidentified, officials said.
The medical examiner will work to determine the cause of death.
An investigation is ongoing.
