NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released video footage on Friday of a bat-wielding shoplifter accused of beating a 58-year-old employee during a robbery in Chelsea earlier this week.
It happened at around 2:25 p.m. on Monday, April 27, inside a Gristedes supermarket located at 225 Ninth Ave.
The suspect then pulled out a bat and repeatedly struck the worker across the head and body before he fled the scene with the stolen items.
The victim sustained several lacerations. EMS transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he is listed in stable condition.
