NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 25-year-old man is charged with murder after he allegedly shot his father to death over the weekend in Jersey City, police and prosecutors said.
The Jersey City Police Department was notified of Saturday’s shooting at about 8:15 p.m., and upon arrival at 115-121 Wade St., responding officers discovered 52-year-old Gerard Brooker Sr. unresponsive inside a residential unit.
Brooker Sr. suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m., officials said.
The initial investigation pinpointed Brooker Sr.’s son, Gerard Brooker Jr., as a person of interest in the shooting. He was arrested the next afternoon in Manhattan.
Brooker Jr. is charged with murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, authorities said.
The investigation and arrest was conducted through collaboration with the Jersey City Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the NYPD.
