NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A 72-year-old man was found dead in bed at his Staten Island home with multiple stab wounds, police said Wednesday as they launched a homicide investigation.

The victim, identified as Eugene Reba, was discovered by NYPD officers responding to a 911 call Monday morning from an apartment on Richmond Avenue, near W. Caswell Avenue, in Graniteville.

When officers arrived at the home around 10:40 a.m., they found Reba unconscious and unresponsive in his bed with stab wounds to his torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death has been deemed a homicide as the investigation continues, police said.

No arrests have been reported as of Wednesday.
