NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a suspect in last week's horrifying attack on a 60-year-old woman who was struck dozens of times with her own cane inside a subway station in Harlem.

The arrest of Norton Blake, 43, came just a day after police named him as their suspect in the attack, which was caught on video and went viral online for its shocking brutality.

Blake, of the Bronx, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged with assault, according to the NYPD.

He was found by the warrant squad, sources told 1010 WINS.

The woman was walking inside the West 116th Street 2/3 station at 3:30 a.m. last Friday when she and her attacker got into some sort of dispute, police said.

He allegedly beat her over 50 times in the head and body with her wooden cane until it broke into pieces, according to police.

The NYPD responded to the station and the woman was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
