The incident happened around 9:40 a.m. as the victim was walking on West 57th Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, police said.

A man approached the victim and punched him throughout his body, including his face, according to officials.

Emergency workers transported the victim to Cornell Hospital in stable condition. He did not know the suspect and the attack was unprovoked, cops said.

A 33-year-old Brooklyn man, Dwayne McPherson, was arrested a short time later after officers canvassed the area in connection to the assault.
