NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released surveillance footage on Tuesday of a suspect accused of beating a victim with a baseball bat inside a Bronx deli last week.

It happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Moe’s 2430 Deli Grocery on E. Tremont Street in Westchester Square, police said.

The suspect and a 29-year-old victim got into an argument that turned physical when the alleged assailant pulled out a baseball bat, officials said.

According to the New York Daily News, the suspect was a shoplifter who was confronted by the victim, a deli worker, over stealing a bag of chips.

Police said the suspect struck the victim in the face with the bat multiple times, causing a laceration.

EMS responded and transported him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.

The suspect fled the scene, but was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt, white shirt, red pants and black and white sneakers, cops said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
