NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An unknown suspect is in police custody with charges pending after dragging an NYPD officer with a car in Brooklyn on Monday morning, police said.

At 6:15 a.m. near Jerome Street and Fulton Street in Cypress Hills, officers observed a suspect strike a parked car, officials said.

According to police, the driver exited their vehicle, and officers engaged.

The suspect quickly became uncooperative, at which point they got back into the driver's seat, authorities said.

Police said that a 29-year-old officer tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect began to drive, dragging the cop a short ways before fleeing.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver was pulled over a short time later and taken into police custody. Charges are pending, police said.
