NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD released photos on Friday of a man wanted for an anti-gay attack on a southbound 6 train in Gramercy last Saturday.
Just before 8 p.m., a 28-year-old man was traveling with his boyfriend when the suspect approached them as the train arrived at the 23rd Street Station.
According to police, the encounter began with a verbal dispute during which the attacker became irate and shouted anti-LGBTQIA+ slurs at the victim.
The confrontation turned physical when the suspect struck the victim in the face with a sharp object, causing a significant laceration.
The attacker fled the station on foot and EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.
The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is currently leading the investigation into the attack.
