Suspect sought in attempted abduction of girl, 12, from Manhattan street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl while she was walking down a Manhattan street on a weekday morning last month, officials said.

The girl was walking around East 5th Street and Avenue C just before 8 a.m. on March 16 when she was approached by the stranger, police said.

The man approached the girl and asked her to accompany him and walk from the area to an unknown location, according to authorities.

Cops said a good samaritan intervened after seeing the interaction at which point the suspect fled the area on foot.

The young victim was not injured during the incident.
