NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for two suspects that on Friday afternoon broke into a Bronx apartment and assaulted a man and woman who were inside.
The home invasion happened at about 4:30 p.m. as the victims, both 27, were inside an apartment near Tremont Avenue and Unionport Road in Van Nest.
Two unidentified men forced their way into the apartment and pulled out a gun, police said. One of the suspects pistol-whipped the man, striking him in the head, while the other suspect choked the woman.
When the woman began to scream, police said that the suspects fled the location on foot. They ran off with a third suspect, a woman, who had been serving as a lookout.
Both victims suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
Police released surveillance images on Saturday night of one of the male suspects and the female suspect in the hope that someone recognizes them.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
