NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An 82-year-old taxi driver was punched unconscious and kicked on a Chinatown street last week by a passenger who refused to pay the fare, the NYPD said Friday.

Police released an image of the 20-something-year-old suspect who they're searching for in the attack around 1 a.m. last Friday at Canal and Division streets.

The passenger refused to pay, and when the cabbie confronted him, he punched him, causing him to fall onto the roadway and lose consciousness, police said.

He then kicked the victim as he was unconscious on the ground, according to cops.

The suspect fled—into another yellow cab—and was last seen headed uptown on Orchard Street.

The victim was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
