Taxi driver killed in Bronx hit-and-run crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A taxi driver was killed in the Bronx’s Morrisania neighborhood after his car was totaled in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, according to police.

The 45-year-old man, who police have not yet released the identity of, was driving a Toyota Camry West on 168th Street when his vehicle was struck around 4:30 a.m. near Webster Avenue, authorities said.

The impact ripped the roof and passenger side doors off the car, and the driver suffered body and neck trauma, according to the NYPD.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead on the scene, officials said.

The totaled car had Taxi and Limousine Commission plates, according to police.

The NYPD has not yet arrested any suspects for the hit-and-run collision.
