NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 18-year-old was placed under arrest on Thursday for allegedly setting a homeless man on fire while aboard a Midtown subway earlier this week.

Hiram Carrero, of Harlem, is charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault, arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment in the Dec. 1 attack, cops said.

According to police, the 56-year-old victim was sleeping on a northbound 3 train at about 3:05 a.m. when the doors opened at 34th Street-Penn Station.

Carrero allegedly stepped into the train car, set the victim on fire and then exited quickly to the platform.

Medics transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to treat “significant” burn injuries.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of a suspect on Wednesday, and arrested Carrero in northeast Harlem Thursday morning.
