Teen cyclist killed by Amazon van in East Village: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 18-year-old man riding a Citi Bike was fatally struck by an Amazon van in the East Village Friday afternoon, according to police.

The teenager was attempting to make a left turn at the intersection of First Avenue and East 17th Street around 12:40 p.m. when he was hit by the van, officials said.

Emergency responders rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed on the scene and was not charged with a crime.

Police are withholding the victim’s name until his family can be notified.
