NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A lost teen turned into the victim of a robbery last week after asking for directions in a Queens subway station, police said.

It happened at about 7:30 p.m. inside the Union Turnpike–Kew Gardens station on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The 17-year-old boy approached a man on the northbound E platform to ask for directions, but the stranger demanded cash instead.

When the teen refused, police said that the suspect flashed a gun on his waistband and told the victim to go to the bank and withdraw money.

The teen took out funds from a Chase Bank located right outside of the station at 118-30 Queens Blvd., and the robber stole about $140 from him before fleeing on foot.

No injuries were reported in connection to the robbery, officials said.

Authorities released surveillance images of a suspect on Tuesday and said that he was last seen wearing a green jacket, green hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers and was carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
